I hope this message finds you well (and healthy!). I wanted to quickly introduce myself, my name is Kial James. I’m a local photographer based out of Nevada City, CA. For the past 7+ years, I’ve been doing School Portraits for a number of local schools, providing them with custom catered solutions for School Portraits along with complimentary support staff items (Staff Portraits, School ID cards, Thumbnail stickers, Yearbook-ready photos), etc… As we approach “School Photo Season” I wanted to let you know about the services I offer over LifeTouch or other national-based Portrait companies. Perhaps more importantly, doing this in a safe and effective way during these unprecedented times.
So, this past summer during the heart of pandemic, my team and I headed up a community-based program for Western Nevada County Graduates called “Retrospectives Portrait Project”. The idea behind this was to give graduates (8th Grade, High School and College) an opportunity to have a full mini-session in a safe, outdoor, Covid-compliant manner. Having two graduates of my own (8th Grade and College), I knew they were missing out on a “Lost Year” with lost opportunities, so in turn, I wanted to do something special for them and the community at large.
The grads signed up online, sessions were scheduled all over Western Nevada County including at schools (outside), parks, The Yuba River, their homes (outdoors) and multiple other locations. The project was a huge success! We photographed over 250 grads over the span of a couple of months. More importantly, this was all done in a very safe, social-distanced (and masked), touch-less manner outside. The entire program was complimentary, no fees, no delivery costs, and best of all, each grad could view their own private online gallery that was emailed to them and choose the photo of their choice for a free 8x10 print mailed to them. We have some incredible memories and met some really wonderful students and their families.
Now, I realize School Portrait sessions are probably nowhere near top of mind right now for you and fellow staff as you navigate the difficult terrain of distance and hybrid learning. With that said, I just wanted to let you know, when you and your school are ready, we are ready to help with your portrait needs, in a safe and effective manner.
Whether this means fall or spring sessions outside, my team and I are ready to help when you as a school are ready.
